Iran warns host nation against supporting ‘enemy strikes’

Iran on Monday warned countries against allowing their territory, military bases or equipment to be used for attacks on Tehran, saying it would strike the source of any assault.

Speaking at his weekly news conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei maintained that Iran poses no threat to any country and has a “legitimate right” under international law to defend its security and sovereignty against hostile action.

“The departure of several refueling aircraft from Bulgaria is a breach of international law and support for US and Israeli military operations against Iran,” he stated.

On the Strait of Hormuz, Baqaei described negotiations over the strategic waterway as complex, blaming Washington’s “illegal actions” for insecurity in the region.

“Iran and Oman are continuing their own discussions regarding their sovereignty over the maritime gateway,” he added, noting that the two countries were working closely to finalize a memorandum and reach a final agreement on maritime traffic.

On Saturday, Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Tehran would treat any neighboring country siding with Washington’s economic campaign as an enemy. He also warned that Iran would target their interests and prevent oil from leaving the Gulf through the strategic gateway.

US President Donald Trump launched a new push to isolate Iran economically, describing it as the “most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country.”
