Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday warned that internal divisions were allowing Iran’s enemies to exploit tensions, urging officials to overcome their differences and focus on the problems facing the public.

During a meeting with a delegation of doctors at the Presidential Palace in Tehran, Pezeshkian acknowledged shortcomings inside the country, noting that the government was working to resolve those problems and move the country forward through consensus and unity.

“There are people who do not know the circumstances in which the government, parliament and military are working, yet they make careless statements,” he added, cautioning that continued government subsidies for gasoline could limit increases in allocations for commodity vouchers and pensions.

Regarding negotiations with the United States, the Iranian president described the talks as a “major achievement,” stressing that the outcome had received the approval of members of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

“We will not surrender to bullying and intimidation. We will resist to the last breath and deliver harsh responses,” Pezeshkian said, urging an end to the months-long war involving the United States and Israel while maintaining that Tehran is in a position of strength against Washington.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday launched a new push to isolate Iran economically, describing it as the “most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country.”

According to US officials cited by Axios, Washington is seeking to pressure Tehran to return to the negotiating table after talks stalled despite the US-Iran memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on June 18. The MoU’s initial 60-day deadline to reach a broader agreement has expired, with the two sides still divided over Iran’s nuclear program, US sanctions, navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and broader security issues, including Tehran’s regional influence and military capabilities.
