US confirms fatal missile strike on Iranian school

A US military investigation has confirmed that American forces carried out a missile strike on an elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, killing dozens, including children, the New York Times reported Wednesday.
Citing military officials, the report described the investigation as “preliminary,” noting it remains unclear why verification was not conducted before the strike. The probe found that the school was struck by a Tomahawk missile.
According to the New York Times, satellite images, social media posts, and verified video footage show that the “Shajarat Tayyiba” elementary school sustained severe damage on the morning of February 28.
The strike occurred as US forces carried out military operations in southern Iran, targeting naval installations near the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) base is located.
The IRGC later launched its 22nd wave of “Operation True Promise 4” in retaliation for the strike, deploying Kheibar and Fattah missiles, along with the super-heavy Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile, which carries a two-ton warhead. The strikes targeted US and Israeli sites “from the Persian Gulf to Tel Aviv,” including Ben Gurion Airport, military facilities in Haifa, and US bases in Gulf countries.
