Italian national found dead in Baghdad

An Italian national was found dead under unexplained circumstances inside a hotel in central Baghdad on Saturday, a security source said.

The source told Shafaq News that security forces discovered the body of a man identified as (H.A.), an Italian citizen, early in the morning at the Italian House Hotel in the Arasat district.

The Ministry of Interior said the deceased was identified as an Italian of Egyptian origin. He had entered Iraq on September 9 as part of professional cooperation with the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities, specifically the Directorate of Roads and Bridges.

The preliminary findings, according to the ministry, showed that the man suffered a sudden health crisis and was transported to the hospital by a friend. “There is no criminal suspicion in the incident. The death was due to a deterioration in his health condition.”
