An airstrike targeted a base belonging to Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) along the Iraq–Syria border in southern Al-Anbar province on Friday, a security source told Shafaq News.
The strike hit a position used by Saraya al-Khorasani (18th Brigade) near areas where PMF units are deployed along the frontier. Warplanes were seen flying over Iraqi airspace at the time of the attack, the source said, adding that the extent of casualties or damage was not immediately clear.
PMF positions in Al-Anbar have faced a series of unidentified airstrikes in recent days, alongside similar attacks targeting the force’s sites in other Iraqi provinces.
The Popular Mobilization Forces said that its facilities across several provinces had been hit by 32 airstrikes since the start of the month, leaving 27 fighters dead and 50 wounded.
