An Israeli drone strike killed two people and wounded 11 others on Friday as worshippers exited a mosque in the town of Sohmor in Lebanon’s western Beqaa Valley, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The agency also said a separate airstrike destroyed a Husseiniya (a Shiite place of worship) in the southern town of Srifa.

International law prohibits attacks on civilian infrastructure, including places of worship; Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions (1977) obliges parties to protect civilian objects and bans targeting them without clear military necessity, while UN Security Council Resolution 2347 (2017) classifies the destruction of cultural and religious sites as a potential war crime and calls for accountability.

Israeli strikes have continued across Lebanon, particularly in the south and Beirut’s southern suburbs. According to the Health Ministry, at least 1,345 people have been killed and 4,040 wounded, including 125 children and 88 women, in addition to more than 150 healthcare workers.
