20% of the displaced families in Khanaqin return to their original areas of residence

Shafaq News / The Department of Immigration and Displacement in Khanaqin, in Diyala, announced today, Tuesday, the return of 20% of the displaced families who reside in displacement camps in the district, which is equivalent to 800 families.

 

The director of the department, Ali Ghazi Agha, told Shafaq News agency, that about 150 displaced families in Alwand 1 and Alwand 2 camps in Khanaqin have returned to their liberated areas of residence.

 

Agha stressed that, "the remaining families in the camp will all return to their original areas of residence, denying the existence of any security obstacles preventing their return to their areas of residence".

 

Furthermore, he attributed the delay in the return of the displaced to, "the lack of readiness of their destructed areas due to terrorism and the collapse of the service system.

 

In Khanaqin district, (105 km northeast of Baqubah), about 850 displaced families live in Alwand 1 and Alwand 2 camps, and have not yet returned to their original areas of residence.
