Shafaq News / Sadikun Parliamentary Bloc announced, on Monday, that it will submit a proposal to prepone the early elections to April.

PM Mustafa Al-Kadhimi announced, on Friday, that the elections will be held in the sixth of next June.

"

Sadikun parliamentary bloc submitted a proposal to the presidency of Al-Fatah Alliance, to change the date of the elections to April instead of June", MP Muhammad Al-Baldawi told Shafaq News agency.

He added, "the month of April is the most appropriate date to hold the elections", noting, "the High Electoral Commission confirmed its ability to conduct the elections if the parliament supported it by approving laws that facilitate the elections process".

Al-Kadhimi had pledged during the formation of his government last May, that the government would work to hold early elections in response to the demands of the popular protests that toppled the government of his predecessor, Adel Abdul Mahdi, early this year.

The new draft election law is the biggest dilemma, as it remains as it is since last year, due to the differences between political blocs over some of its articles.

The Iraqi parliament had begun, last year, to discuss approving the new law that would allow more room for the rise of independent and small blocs to the parliament.
