Minister of Defense sends an infantry division commander to apologize to the battered student in Baghdad

Shafaq News / The Minister of Defense, Najah al-Shammari sent military commanders and officials to apologize to a student who was beaten by a soldier in Baghdad on Monday.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, under the direction of Minister ,Najah al-Shammari, a delegation from the ministry headed by the commander of the 11th Infantry Division Brigadier General ,Aqeel al-Saadi and the Director of Information and Moral Guidance of Special Forces Brigadier ,Yahya Rasool on Monday evening, went to al-Bonouk area to check on the student who was beaten by one of the members of the 11th Infantry Division and apologize to her.

The ministry affirmed that the above action is an individual act and that the ministry has stressed the peaceful treatment and protection of the demonstrators.

A video was widely circulated showing a security element beating a number of students to force them to break up a sit-in in solidarity with the popular protests that renewed last week.
