Gunmen storm Basra International Airport

Shafaq News / The assistant director of Basra International Airport, Ali Sharhan Ghadban, revealed, on Sunday, that he had been "beaten and insulted" by gunmen who stormed the airport. 

Ghadban stated, "National Security members often violate the rules. when I held one of them accountable, he responded aggressively". 

He added, "I am the assistant director of Basra International Airport, and according to Cabinet Resolution No. 84, I should assume the administrative, technical and security role at the port".

"The security agent called people, and after half an hour 3 gunmen broke into the airport and severely beat me, tore my clothes and punched me", Ghadban said. 

The assistant director pointed to, "the recklessness of militias and uncontrolled security forces on the border crossings, and the corruption due to the hegemony of parties, militias and partisan security agencies".
