Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity attributed the improvement in the supply hours to mild weather, highlighting its preparations for summer.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry, Ahmed Moussa, said in a statement to Shafaq News Agency, "the [relatively] lower weather temperature and milder weather allowed a better control over the load."

"The Ministry added a few production plants that were under maintenance, put new production plants into service, and bolstered gas imports to 22 mcm," he added.

"The cooperation between the Ministry [of Electricity] and the Ministry of Oil contributed to improving the power supply by securing crude fuel and gas oil that operates some plants," he continued.

"The power supply in Ramadan will improve according to our plans to enhance production, relieve congestion, and support distribution."

"The Ministry had huge plans for production, distribution, and transportation in preparation for summer. It will introduce new plants like al-Jalisiya in Saladin, new plants of 132 KVV in the governorates, and cooperation with the Ministry of Industry to secure crucial material for the sustainability of the grid like transformers. After that, we will lay a plan to relieve the load in distribution."

"Power supply hours next summer will be, if not good, acceptable. We will reach 22 thousand megawatts. If it is not acceptable, it will be better than last year's summer."

Iraqis suffer from continuous power outages, and the crisis exacerbates in summer's hot weather. This pushes the citizens to rely on local electricity providers to sustain their electricity needs.
