Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza or the West Bank, saying it would not happen while he remains in office.

"As long as I am Prime Minister, no Palestinian state controlled by Iran will arise: not in Gaza, and not in Judea and Samaria."

Ra'am (United Arab List) chairman Mansour Abbas said earlier at the party's conference that a Palestinian state already exists and is recognized by most of the world, calling on the United States and Israel to recognize it as well. Abbas said his party was working toward "peace, reconciliation, and an end to the occupation and the conflict."
