Iraq refuses to join the international coalition for the security of navigation
Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Foreign Ministry expressed on Thursday its refusal to join the International Alliance of International Maritime Security Construct in the Gulf as the International Maritime Security Construct is an international alliance that aims to protect the safety of maritime navigation and international trade
Saudi Arabia and the UAE have recently announced joining the US-led coalition.
"The protection of Gulf lies with the countries bordering it," Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman , Ahmed al-Sahaf told Al- Jazeera television.
"We will not join any international force to protect the Gulf's waterways and reject the Israeli participation in it," he said.
The idea of forming an international coalition emerged on 9th of July, when the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph Danford announced Washington's work to form the alliance.
It is worth mentioning that Gulf Alliance's operations area covers the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandab, the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf.
