Shafaq News / Today, Friday, September 11, 2020, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani issued a statement marking the 59th anniversary of the outbreak of the September revolution.

The September Revolution of 1961 was launched under the leadership of Kurdish leader Mulla Mustafa Barzani, and it is considered one of the largest revolutions in Kurdish history against the Iraqi regimes that suppressed their rights, and raised the slogan, "Democracy for Iraq .. And Autonomy for Kurdistan."

The head of the regional government said in a statement the most important of what was stated in it:

“Today we remember the 59th anniversary of the glorious September 1961 revolution, that revolution that swept Kurdistan and embraced its people with all its nationalities, religions and components from Zakho to Khanaqin, under one leadership led and carried by the eternal national leader Mustafa Barzani.

The spark of the September revolution was ignited while the enemies of the Kurdish people were trying to obliterate our culture and erase our identity, stripping us of their right to live, and as a result of the people's support and the steadfastness of the Peshmerga and the revolutionaries, many great achievements were made, perhaps the most prominent of which is the unification of Kurdistan, and the March 11th 1970 Agreement that forced the Ba'athist regime to recognize the rights of the people of the region.

We must preserve the spirit of resistance, sacrifice, and the ideal values for this revolution to be a motive for strengthening unity and solidarity between us."
