Yazidi survivors demand the approval of the Yazidi female survivors law

Shafaq News / Yazidi MP, Saeb Khadr, revealed on Monday the details of the meetings that the Yazidi survivors had with the Iraqi presidencies.

Khadr said in a press conference that the Yazidi survivors conducted a series of meetings to urge the masses to legislate the Yazidi female survivors law", adding, "there are more than three thousand survivors who did not receive any of their rights".

He stressed the necessity of holding the responsible accountable, ​​calling on the Parliament to approve the survivors' law and implement the promises made by politicians to the survivors.

Several Yazidi female survivors held meetings with the Iraqi President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, as well as the Parliament speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, and discussed the approval of the Yazidi female survivors law sent from the Presidency of the Republic to Parliament.

Yazidi girls and women were raped and tortured by ISIS on the first night of their abduction. Some of them survived, and others were freed, while the fate of hundreds of them is still unknown.

ISIS carried out murders and mass graves against Yazidis when it invaded Sinjar district, west of Mosul, on August 3, 2014, and kidnapped more than 5,000 citizens, most of them are children, women and girls. They were exploited as sexual slaves and "sold" in slave markets.

The Kidnapped Yazidis Rescue Office in Kurdistan Region confirmed that the total number of kidnapped men and women who have not been released yet has reached 2887.
