Nineveh lawmakers in the Iraqi parliament, on Monday, rejected recent administrative changes in the province.

At a news conference in parliament, Nineveh MP Jamil Al-Hadidi said authorities recently replaced the head of the Social Welfare Department despite his record of integrity and competence. “We believe he was replaced to satisfy a political party that has no more than one representative in parliament,” he said.

Al-Hadidi also questioned the replacement of the president of Northern Technical University, saying the decision did not meet requirements related to specialization and academic experience.

Calling on Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi to intervene, the lawmaker urged the government to reconsider any decision based on partisan power-sharing or political pressure rather than qualifications and merit.
