Erdogan declares imminent reopening of two consulates in Iraq: security and stability is important to us
Shafaq News/ The Turkish President , Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country is "paying attention" to Iraq's security and stability.
The Turkish president also announced that opening of two Turkish consulates will be soon in Mosul and Basra.
It should be noted that the Turkish government closed its consulate in Basra and Mosul in mid-2014 after the tense security situation in Iraq.
On June 11, 2014, ISIS broke into the Turkish consulate, kidnapping 48 people, including the Turkish consul , Utork Yilmaz in Mosul back then as well as the consulate staff and some members of their families, including 3 children and members of the Turkish special operations force team, who were released after more than three months of detention.
